About Me

Aditi Malhotra

Hi, Welcome to my webpage.

I am Aditi (pronounced as “Other-thy” & the r is silent). I am the Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Army Journal. Formerly, I was the Co-Editor of the Journal for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (JIPSS). I hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Muenster, Germany and an MA in International Studies from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Let me give you a brief summary of my professional journey so far. I joined the world of think tanks and research in the capacity of an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS). While at CLAWS, I also served as the Deputy Editor of Scholar Warrior, a bi-annual journal of the centre. Following that, I was the Senior Research Fellow in the International Strategic and Security Studies Programme (ISSSP) at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS). I have been a Visiting Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defence, Oslo (2017) and the Stimson Center, Washington D.C (2016). I have been a recipient of research and field trip grants from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) and the Norwegian Institute for Defence. My research interests include Indo-Pacific security and geopolitics, external security behaviour of middle powers, changing trends of warfare, and nuclear deterrence. My doctoral thesis concentrated on the evolution of India’s security role in the Indo-Pacific region.

I am the author of India in the Indo-Pacific: Understanding India’s Security Orientation towards Southeast and East Asia and looking forward to the release of my second book, Understanding Security Role Evolution of US, China and India: Setting the Stage (Routledge, 2023).

I believe that you stumbled on my webpage because of your interest in international relations, military and security studies. I hope you enjoy reading my work!
